Marshall Lake (189 acres): Annual cutthroat trout fingerling plants get only moderate growth here, but mid-summer fishing is good. Public access and a resort are on this beautiful lake, located approximately 6 miles northwest of Newport, across the Pend Oreille River.
For several years there has been a rumor that there is grayling in Marshall Lake, Pend Oreille Co. This is partially true. I stopped by the WDFW the other day and asked them about this. They later contacted me by e-mail with the following information:
"Marshall Lake was planted with grayling in the late 1980s or early nineties. One stocking was done, they did not persist and the program was discontinued. The lake was rehabilitated in the late 90's and no grayling were seen. Burbot were in the lake but no longer due to the rehabilitation". Marc Martyn
