Re: Anyone ever gone fishing in Minnesota?
I have family in Stillwater and St. Paul and when I go visit we hit some lakes and rivers in the area. The variety of species is killer. You can catch Burbot ,Pike, Panfish, Bass, Muskie Walleye, Sauger, Whitefish and Trout. The St Croix River even holds Sturgeon. The Panfish Walleye and Bass seem t...

Re: Ask an ex-WDFW employee anything!
We can see by the results of some of our WDFW projects that warm water species do need some help sometimes. Case in point, Sprague lakes latest warm water program. Another that come's to mind is Coffee pot, this lake was once promoted by WDFW as a Trophy Bass lake. Lets not forget the Liberty lake W...

Re: What do bass eat?
There is no quick way to learn a lake.
The best way to learn what a Bass eats, is to harvest a few from time to time. Gut them and take a good look at what's there.
One thing that has been constant over the years has been size. 3 in seems to be a preferred size of prey

I see a bait cast reel in this photo. Take that out in the back yard and practice, practice, practice. Welcome to the world of Bass fishing, a motorcycle would be cheaper, lol. Good luck.

Re: sprague lake crappie
We are hearing of a few Largemouth showing up finally but the panfish are still a no show. You might check with Chris Donnely in the Spokane office or Bruce Bolding over on the west side. They predicted the Bluegill would show up several years ago. The four seasons resort is up for sale so you may w...

Just another land grab. Every angler in this State needs to way in on this or we will all lose. If they take this lake away from the Sportsmen they will get the next one easier.

Re: Wait Those Aren't Voracious Pike?!
I would like to see a study done on the feeding habits of the Trout sometime. Most of the Trout we caught out of Sprague in the winter had been feeding on Crappie. Talked with a guy who had photos of Trout he had caught out of Moses lk also full of Crappie. I took one out of the Lind Coullie a few y...

I believe this is a African dewlap.
It is a domestic bird and makes a great alarm system.

Re: Bullhead Catfish Baits
I had a pond in the back field when I was a kid.
My best bait for Bullheads was a couple of Hotdogs.
Cut them into half inch chunks.
Hook swivel and a slip sinker.
