Re: Summit Lake gate
The gate gets unlocked prior to the opening of the lowland lake trout season and will stay open 24/7 through October 31st. There is no camping allowed (which also means no sleeping in your vehicle).

Re: LAKE CHELAN
We need to confirm the Lake Stevens Derby date. Aside from seeing it at the bottom of an events list I don't have an official confirmed date. I couldn't find it anywhere, but it's been that second week in May the last couple years so no reason to think it won't be. I checked the fishing contest cal...

Re: Kokanee planting at Keechelus, Kachess, and Cle Elum
Kachess and Keechelus are 10 fish limits daily. That too has changed, I'm pretty sure Kachess was only 2 fish last year, but I could be wrong. From what I understand both lakes never produced very large fish. According to the 2015-16 sport fishing regs, there are separate limits for kokanee and tro...

Re: Downrigger rods?
I disagree that sensitivity is an issue for the rod and agree with G-man. You want a soft rod that can handle the bending and strain you are going to put on it. You almost want the rod tip touching the water. With the tension that is put on the line and rod, you won't have any difficulty seeing any ...

Re: Selective Rules Fishing - Crawfishing?
The Quadfather is correct because the rule is only affecting the gear used to fish. Since the body of water is open for fishing, it is also open for crawfishing. Conversely, if a body of water is closed to fishing, then it is also closed to crawfish fishing.

Did you ever try Harts Lake? Right adjacent to the WDFW boat launch is a very small resort. The resort has a dock you can fish off of for a small fee.
I'll check with some of my co-workers for some suggestions.

Re: What fish finder and electric motor
I would recommend two batteries. One for trolling motor and one for fish finder. I have a Lowrance HDS 5 fishfinder/gps and after 3 hours of trolling, the trolling motor sucks up too much power for the Lowrance to work. I am looking at getting a 12V tractor or motorcycle battery for the Lowrance. I ...

Re: Bulls on the Skagit System: Skagit, Sauk, Suiattle, Casc
When I first got interested in Bull Trout/Dolly Varden, the old rule of thumb was that Dolly Varden were the anadromous coastal form and the Bull Trout the inland form. Plus the the two species are so similar looking that they cannot be easily identified in the field. A lot of measurements must be t...

Re: Bulls on the Skagit System: Skagit, Sauk, Suiattle, Casc
The native range of the Dolly Varden does extend as far south as Washington but they are restricted to small, high-elevation tributaries in the Cascades and Olympics, usually above barriers to anadromous migration where they never achieve any significant size. The large, semi-anadromous char of Puge...

You can fish for Kokanee in Lake Sutherland from the 4th Saturday in April to October 31 as it is not a year-round lake.

Re: Baker Lake boating rules
I had thought we had killed this horse, but it seems it needs to be beaten a bit more. The Federal Government makes the decision on whether or not their rules will apply to a specific body of water, not the State. Getting any information from the State of Washington regarding Federal/Navigable wate...
