Re: Clear Fork, Upper Cowlitz: Gear size to bring?
Replying to my own thread for anyone in the future reading this. The upper Cowlitz and the tribs (Clear Fork/Ohanapocesh) nearby where I stayed were low in flow and the waters in many areas were very shallow. Assuming there are better spots up and down this river but in my location there was lots an...

Clear Fork, Upper Cowlitz: Gear size to bring?
Going out for some hiking and camping this weekend and struggling to figure out which gear to bring for some fishing on the upper Cowlitz & tribs. I've been carefully reviewing the rules and boundaries. I believe I can fish the Clear Fork with a spinning rod and some artificial lures. Has anyone who...

Re: Wader repairs
I've heard some good things from some friends in Alaska who use this stuff called Tenacious Tape for a lot of gear repair. I think pairing this up with some kind of adhesive goop like AquaSeal or something could suit you well.

Re: Suitable Shore Fishing Rod?
Good to know BentRod - thanks for the reply. I haven't gone beach fishing really and from coworkers that do they said I'd be better off with a longer rod, like you were saying. I'm going to give it a go and swap out the reels to make sure I can actually get some decent casts in. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Suitable Shore Fishing Rod?
Thanks for the advice on that spokey and good call on that as well. I didn't even think about that. I might give the rod a go and pair it up with my other drifting baitcaster to give it a try. I was worried that the heavy rod may be a bit too stiff but I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Suitable Shore Fishing Rod?
Hello. I mostly attempt to target fish in rivers (very unsuccessfully) and recently I have a job site that is near some shore fishing spots for coho and pink salmon. I was hoping to make a couple fishing trips before and after work on the beach in the next week or two to try for some pinks and coho....

Classic WDFW. Because calling the tribes as a sport fisherman will really make any impact in the enforcement?BARCHASER1 wrote:.
Thank you for contacting WDFW! Unfortunately we don’t have jurisdiction over the tribes so for any updates on their netting seasons you would have to contact the tribe.

Re: Reel Parts? Anyone know where to get them?
Why not use the recommended supplier on the Abu website? I've used eReplacementParts for this same reason, lost my magnetic brake knob and re-ordered it through these guys. Wasn't excited about the prices (I think my knob was like $8 + $8 S&H) but it was the right one. http://www.ereplacementparts.c...

Re: Duwamish river daily limit confusion
Only in the salt and the Puyallup. The sky and green are still running 3 and 6 respectively even though the returning numbers are way down. Kind of odd the dept didn't cut retention numbers across the board. To put the returning forecast in perspective, during the last few seasons the green, sky, a...

Re: C'mon, man.
Flossers stink. They litterally smell bad.. This is a proven fact. Google it. Lol It's interesting to see the vast difference in perspective about flossing in the lower-48 and Alaska. I've fished the Kenai River up there many times and "flossing" is the go to for sockeye and no one bats an eye. We'...

Recommendations on spots that are not elbow to elbow? I'm fine making a trek to find some more secluded spots, even if its middle of the day on the weekday(Friday) Thanks! I'm still learning and exploring this system @chowdan, but what I've found so far is there is plenty of decent water where you ...

Re: Tackle for Tackling Coho?
I would use size 0 or the wee version. The 2 smallest sizes that they have at the ones that I use. Today I learned that you can use the smallest DN sizes for coho! I could have sworn based on my own logic those were just simply too small to be effective or would catch just a bunch of small fish or ...

Re: Tackle for Tackling Coho?
I second ditching the wiggle warts. I bought a handful and just never use them. They get snagged a bunch from the bank especially if you don't know the depth of your holes. They are supposed to dive a certain depth and most will go 8-10 feet which sometimes are just too deep for bank fishing. I woul...

Re: Spooling Station Contraption
That's a great idea for unspooling! Thanks for the tip - I wasn't looking forward to hand winding back onto a spool for 30 minutes. A chucked up spool with a bolt and a drill would make mince meat out of that process. Thanks again.

Re: Snoho/Sky/Wallace Open for Coho!!!
@FrostyAusty - if you are looking for other places for gear outside of Big5/Fred Meyer, and live in/near Seattle, check out Outdoor Emporium (aka Sportco - next to Filson's downtown) and Ted's Sports Center (in Lynnwood). Both are dedicated fishing/hunting/sporting stores. I would also do some resea...

Spooling Station Contraption
I'm not sure if this is the right place for sharing something like this but I figured since I post mostly on the River section I'd give it a go. If I should move this elsewhere, mods, please let me know. I spent the last couple of nights working around in the shop and figured I'd try this project. I...

Re: C'mon, man.
Wow. How in the heck do you think this is "fishing" and not poaching using those claws to snag fish? That's just incredible people try and use these contraptions and don't get caught somehow. As you guys said - the types that end up trying to get away with this type of fishing are usually the types ...

@Sideburns - what did he say when you ended up surprising him? Was he all tweaked out or did he just say he was living there? A lot of these guys worry me due to the nature of their current status in life and what they may potentially do depending what and if their on something. Have you ever seen a...
