I tend to do better in the afternoon when the water is cooler. Suspending jerkbaits are one of my go to baits this time of year. Also try making long casts with light line and small 1/8 or 3/16 oz jig heads and a small swimbait like a Keitech Easy Shiner with a slow retrieve.

I just make all my own jigs and paint them with powder paint. They look nicer and it holds up much better than vinyl paint.

Seeing as this thread hasn’t seen a post in awhile, I’ll put one up. Caught these last Monday out in the smoke. They weighed in at 5, 4, and 3lbs. The 5 inhaled a knock off of a Grande Bass Airtail Rattler that I made, the 4 on a jig that I made and the 3 on a Picasso Shock Blade.

If it’s too big for your new truck it will likely be too big for me. I just have a little RAV4 so it will probably need to be on the small side. I’m curious about your modifications though.
