WDFW published several rule changes today. Among them were closures of hatchery silver fisheries in at least 3 locations due to returns being so low that the hatcheries were not able to meet egg take goals.
I haven't caught jack for Salmon all year, but at least I know I'm not the only one, and that there's more to it than just sucking at fishing.

They are still workign there way in.......up in area 4, 5 and 6 they are starting to pump them out. the bad thing is they are flying through and already have the old hook nose and some are turning already.
it sucks this year, lets just hope that this isn't a normal tread for the years to come. I will be out Saturday and Sunday hunting fish

Like scott said they are just now starting to really show up in Area 5 etc. Sekiu is heating up with lots of limits and all BIG fish, some of which are showing color. My guess is they are going to shoot right through the sound and be up in the rivers before we know it. I disagree with the early closures, but it seems to be the norm lately.
Reminds me of Elliot bay closing due to "low returns" and we are STILL seeing kings in the salt. They just close it before the fish show up because they are scared.

Are there really supposed to be a billion pinks coming back next year?

Yeah its really too bad, and I feel for the guys who lost their coho season on their local river. I think most of us got a taste of that last winter with our week chum run (I know chum/hos peas/carrots).
But you have to remember its being done for the best even if it is a little early. I would rather miss ONE year then never have a river system rebound from an over fished season when it should have been closed. But these are emergency rule changes, I suppose that if the fish ever do show up, they could make another emergency rule change to re open the fishery
I saw that the Puyallup's pulled their nets early, witch really says a lot to me. I show that tribe way more respect (not that I ever showed them a lack of respect) after a move like that. They were able to realize the problem as well as taking steps towards fixing it. I also think that the Mucks are doing something similar on the Duwi. There appears to be way less nets this year, but I don't know for sure.
fear no fish: sorry bud not quite a billion but it will seem like there is a billion come next summer/fall. More like 6 million or so I am guessing coming to WA

I just want one or two, but I haven't caught jack. So discouraged I haven't even given it a shot in the last 3 weeks.
