Corkies for springers

Post by Brat Bonker » Wed May 08, 2013 8:31 am

I plan on hitting the cascade opening weekend and I am curious on what are some better colors or combos for springers or kings in general. also any tips on cascade springer would be nice too. I have done good with orange corkies and purple yarn for fall nooks but thats about it.

not sure how the Cascade ones like it, but orange with purple is what punched out my Cow springer.

Are you planning on just throwing a corky?? Id use eggs if i were you, in which case the color of corky doesnt matter at all if you have some good eggs

no early morning I plan on tossing eggs but in the afternoon when the bite slows I heard they bite the corky and yarn better.
so concentrate on bright colors like red, orange and chartreuse. anyone have any luck with prawn tails or pieces of prawn.

Prawns/sand shrimp are pretty universal like eggs. I've never had a place where unless they weren't biting anything, where prawns didn't perform.

yeah I have seen spoons work well in there but I don't have any 50/50 but I have all-silver cleos and stee-lee and various other colors of stee-lees

I would use the cleos in 2/5 oz size. Get a 50/50 and an all gold. Gold is a good color.

I have heard gold is a good color to use when the water is stained like it is up there. Is 17lb test fluorocarbon too light or too much? Also is there an afternoon bite too or just a morning first light bite.

I think I am going to have a rod rigged up for float and eggs and another with a heavy wt and eggs with no corky to drift fish and maybe another for spoons and spinners for when the bite slows down.

All this talking about springers! Go out and get them! They're thick in the Cowlitz right now, and they're slaying them at Drano! Gosh. Oh, and pink beads. When the egg bite dies, fish the bead.
