Gettin ready. Checked out listed lakes...

Post by dea » Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:49 am

I took a leisurely drive this weekend to check out the boat launches at the following lakes in Sno, and King counties.

Friday:
Devils's ( Long )
Echo

Saturday:
Margarat
Langlois
Wagner

Devil's lake is a year round lake and it's boat launch was open. This is a nice little lake. However, I must say that Langlois is the most beautiful of all these lakes. It has only a little shoreline development, and it is in quite a deep hole. I cannot wait to get onto lake Langlois since it looks so rural.

Langlois is pretty cool. A couple things:

the launch (last time I was there, a few years ago) has sunken logs clogging it, making it a bit of a challenge depending what kind of boat you have.

the evening times in the summer are fun as there is a girl scout camp on the far shore so you wil get to listen to campfire songs in the evening. very nice ambience.

Thanks so much. I'll watch out for the sunken logs. We use a 14' Meyers Laker. It only weighs 125lbs and has a super shallow draft.

What happens if we are on the lake and someone decides it's time to close the gate? Will they signal us to come in? How does this work?

I heard that Blackman's just got a plant of rainbows last week, might check that out.

You may have to hop out and pull the boat over those logs if it is still the way it was when I was last out there.

Don't know about the gate question, but I'm going to guess they would see your rig and give a shout.

I have fished Langlois many times after dark. I don't think they close the gates. I have never seen it closed. I used to live in Carnation and fished it quite often.

Thanks. The regulations say fishing areas that are open are open 24hrs/day. However, I keep seeing the signs on the gates that say it closes at dusk. What gives?

I don't know about this lake,, but often times a lake will have Parks that close at dusk. That doesn't mean that the lake closes to fishing at dusk. (check your regs. of course to night closures of the lake in question.) but as long as you don't access it via a closed park, then you shouldn't have a problem.

Very good info Quadfisher. I will pay attention to where I launch and avoid park launches if I wanna stay after dark.

I can't wait to get my Av700 underwater video system into these lakes this year. No more guesing with fishing finders anymore. That means more time exploring and locating fish. Yeehaw! This is going to be the best fishing season yet. I can feel it in my gills.

I think I say something similar to this every year.....and at the end of the season I say, "Well, next year is gonna be a better season." [rolleyes]
