wily channel catfish
I will be chasing the wily channel catfish in a secret eastern wa river starting tomorrow night. I'll post the results either Wednesday night or Thursday morning upon returning. I may have to make up a fake river name to keep the identity secret and the pressure down, something like the Palouse River.

Channel cats are good eats! Even for us northerners.
Life's short - fish hard!

The location is the mouth of the Palouse river, right across the Snake from Lyons Ferry Marina. That's the fake name I'll be posting results under.

Thursday on might be a good time. I never thought catfish were finicky but we didn't find them like we did two years ago. I caught one nice sized channel cat and two smaller yellow bullheads. The bite was definitely off but the thought was that it would start up today as the barometer was rising.
Got showered on all three nights there.

why don't you but secret lake in bla bla county or something. Otherwise, you have people fishing a body of water that doesn't even have the kind of fish they are looking for. I use this whole website as a key to what is biting where and what to use and how the water clarity is. I'm not one to bombarder someones fishing but don't want to fish riffe lake for carp nor mayfield for walley, just saying.

One more thing. The people running the Lyons Ferry KOA campground have that thing the cleanest I've ever seen any campground. The bathroom floors were almost clean enough to eat off of.
One of the assistant managers likes to fish for catfish and keeps close tabs on the Palouse mouth. It might be a good thing to call and get the current fishing reports before driving over.

I camped at Lyons Ferry KOA on the Snake River near the town of Starbuck. We motored across the Snake and fished the mouth of the Palouse River.

He isn't. You just misunderstood. The location is "secret." It is so secret that he made up a "fake" name for it (notice the quotes around "fake").stosh wrote:why don't you but secret lake in bla bla county or something. He really is fishing the mouth of the Palouse River for catfish. The mouth of the Palouse river right across from Lyons Ferry. He is just being a goofball and making it seem like he is hiding the real location when he stated it all along. I think the word is "fecetious" but I can't for the life of me tell if that is how it is really spelled...
If you want to catch catfish in Washington, this is probably the best spot to do it, IMHO, although I've been told the Yakima mouth is pretty good, too.
