Bananas and Fishing Bad Luck

I try to tell myself not to believe in superstitions but I wont eat bananas the night before in the morning or have them on my boat.

I wouldn't call it superstition, as there is some science behind the theory. also, I bet you won't find a banana in the lunch box of very many fishing guides out there. Fishing and bananas don't go together in my opinion.

I'm not much on superstition, but I keep the tradition alive and forbid any bananas on my fishing vessel.

Does have to do with fishing. If you're fisn'n on my boat no bananas, banana bread, chap-stick, sunscreen, candy or banana super-gel allowed. I know, I'm a PIA but there are other boats or skippers to fish with...

I have better things to worry about in life than banannas on the boat or who eats them.that being said I've had many banannas onboard. I'm still alive and catching fish haha. I believe in skill not superstitions. Don't care about black cats either and have walked under lots of ladders.

I do think your right if you keep the Bananas off the boat we won't have to keel haul you and that saves your life.

A lot of folks have never heard of this, But a guy at work inherited a boat and won't change the name since it's bad Luck.

dumb, bring anything you want to eat, I love bananas and have them on board most of the time.......plus I have a buddy that I hide a banana on his boat when we go out just to hear him cry,,,,we always catch fish anyway...............................

Never heard of any of this although I get the history part about food supplies. I am surprised as I have been around boats all my life and worked on one as a young man, maybe it just didn't stick. I do remember Oranges being a very valuable commodity on ships as they prevented scurvy?

Mine:
• I firmly subscribe to the no banana thing.
• I have to fish in a red hat.
• No new rods or reels on board when fishing a derby or tournament.

I believe in none, nadda, neit, nope, no way, not gonna. I refuse to let any old wives tales run my life, I make enough mistakes on my own.
