Alder Lake mystery fish

Post by RS0530 » Sun Jul 19, 2015 7:09 pm

Caught this trolling today. The picture isn't great, but I'm hoping someone could tell me what this is.
Kind of looks like a largemouth bass, but the coloring isn't there. It has a large lower jaw, spiny on top and small teeth.
Light colored tongue and gums.
If anybody can identify by this picture, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

No special rules for bass at Alder so statewide rules apply...
LARGEMOUTH BASS (See DOH advisory, page 18) - No min. size. Only LARGEMOUTH BASS less than 12" may be retained, except 1 over 17" may be retained. Daily limit 5. Bass may be caught, retained, and released alive from a livewell until a daily limit is in possession.

Thank you everybody! I knew it was a largemouth, but my brother in law that was there swore it was a lake whitefish. I tried to tell him that the whitefish have much smaller heads and mouths, but he wouldn't hear it. [angry]

The kokanee and trout I have caught at Alder are all pale until after being out of the water for awhile. I thought it was strange too.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

No adipose fin, not a lake whitefish. [wink]
