How did the weekend derby go?
PSE/WDFW did not help....no new fish brought up for about a week.
It's been a tough milker for me this year

I was up there all last week.... Monday through Friday... I fished on the Friday, but was not in the derby..... fishing was VERY slow. We got fish everyday but Friday??? LOL I wouldn't waste my time up there. It's a joke this year...

Re: Baker lake derby
Interesting - definitely a smaller average size this year. The 6 I got in the river probably averaged less than 5 pounds each - a couple were under 4.

Re: Baker lake derby
I have brought home 16 fish from Baker lake this year and only 3 have been bucks....????? All the rest have been small hens with net marks.
I feel sorry for the people who have their reservations at one of the Baker lake campgrounds for a fishing trip.
Looks like they are not planning on putting anymore fish in the lake.

Re: Baker lake derby
Hopefully they keep every fish for Baker Lake broodstock and if they have to short anyone, it's the Skokomish transfer plan that get shorted. Has anyone see a count or estimate of tribal harvest for this year?

Re: Baker lake derby
I have not seen that data, just the dates they net.
I have been up there on a Monday and the fish taxi was dumping fish into the lake?? I thought to myself “there was no way they got their broodstock in one day????” I was told they are dumping hens into the lake because they are the only ones making it back and there are enough hens in the hatchery and not enough bucks… Makes me wonder if the Indian nets are getting all the big fish (bucks) and the little hens are making it through the nets? (most of my hens had net marks and were missing the ends of their fins…..???)
