Any good camping spots between Tacoma and Mt. Rainier?

My family and I want to find a place to camp w/fishing from a dock, from shore, and maybe even boat rentals. We are thinking somewhere between say the Roy Y down in Tacoma and Mt. Rainier. We will be going July 22-24. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially if there's any places where you can camp right next to the lake. We prefer Lake fishing only, and if there IS a place right on the water, where we can wake up and cast right out from our site, bonus. We did Lk. Sylvia last year, it was fun, but not much to do our there, and we just wanted to try something new and down south towards Mt. Rainier. Thanks

(I posted this in the camping section as well)

Not many places that you can camp right on the water anymore, sad to say. I've camped at Ike Kinswa state park on Lake Mayfield. There are a number of places that are very close to the water and you can fish from shore. Can't say the catching is good from there, but you can fish. Nice campground too. Hope you find something to your liking.

Cool, thanks. Our preference is killer fishing over how close we are to the water for sure. One thing we did like about Lk. Sylvia was how close you were to the water, but it seemed like the ppl in boats were the ones catching the hogs. Fish Lake is incredible, we're hitting that again in June.

Check out Alder Lake. You can't camp right on the water without having a boat, but the campsites are short walk from the lake, and there are picnic tables (with grills) you can set up at during the day. Casting from shore can catch Kokanee, Perch, and Crappie.

LOL. I've camped/fished at Mayfield L. twice and both times I've watched people in boats trolling by cleaning up on trout, but the only thing I've ever caught from shore at the campground was a sucker.....but it was a big sucker!

Yeah, when we went there last year and tried to fish from shore by the waterfall thing, ppl were just slaying in boats and paddle boats. So annoying hahahaha

Hey Lee, this is what I found on Alder Lake, let me know if this is the same area, and which of these campsites you may have been at.

Alder Lake

At Alder Lake you'll find swimming beachs, playgrounds, open lawn areas, campgrounds, two boat launches, and picnic sites. There is year round camping available at four campgrounds: Main, Osprey, Elk Plain and Rocky Point, as well as picnicking at two day-use areas, Sunny Beach Point and Stacel Point.

Sunny Beach Point is a nine-acre day-use park with a swimming beach, sunning area, picnic shelter, 20 picnic site with tables and grills, restrooms and parking.

I've always gone to the 'main' campground. It's really close to the dam, so good shore fishing for the kids, and I can slay the kokanee from my kayak. I didn't go last year, but the previous year I could always produce about 5 kokanee per hour.

2 campgrounds on Lake Tanwax. Camp Lakeview (Camping, dock no boat rentals) and Rainbow campground (dock, camping, and boat rentals). Silver Lake (Pierce County) has a camping area, dock, and boat rentals or did have.

There are some campgrounds on Alder Lake
