Baker Lake closes to sockeye fishing Sept. 12

Action: Close Baker Lake to the retention of sockeye.

Effective dates: Sept. 12, 2011.

Species affected: Sockeye salmon.

Location: Baker Lake, upstream of the log boom barrier in front of upper Baker Dam to the mouth of the Baker River.

Reasons for action: Baker Lake sockeye are no longer of sufficient quality to attract interest by anglers, and are moving toward spawning areas.

Other information: All other fishing regulations remain in effect as listed in the 2011/2012 Fishing in Washington sport fishing rules pamphlet. Anglers are reminded to release all bull trout.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on fishing seasons and regulations. It was an excellent season! Congrats to all those who got a chance to share in this fishery, and lets cross our fingers for more next year!

I'll say a big Yippy to that! It's a fun fishery, maybe I can make a couple two day trips next year.

Baker Lake was a wonderful adventure for Robyn and I! Looking forward to giving it a go next year.

I only got out there twice and that's depressing! I'll do whatever I can to not let that happen again should we be granted another opportunity next year.

Hahaha! Yay! That was a good time place. I'll be going again next year too! Lots of fun. A little adventure.

Hahahaha, oh yea. Never going anywhere without a spare key. The weasels love the outside!
