Any recommendations for shore fishing near Port Ludlow- Port Townsend?

any idea what's fishing in each and what'll be a recommended bait this time around? (bringing a first-time 'angler to be'....would love to make it count )

Sandy Shore has rainbow trout and bass. There is a decent sized shoreline to fish from and with a bit of wandering through the brush, numerous places to pop out on the lake. From the shore, power bait and a sinker, fishing on the bottom seems to be the way people go. Plastics, rapalas, & rooster tails should all work for bass. With a first timer though, trout should be your best bet.

I know little of Teal. It is smaller. Check for bait restrictions and maybe tighter limits for trout.

Another lake you might want to consider is a bit farther away (~5 miles south of the 101 x 104 intersection, on the west side of 101, and that's Leland. Lots of productive shore there and a good sized dock. Rainbow trout on the bottom this time of year would be your best bet as well.

Both places will have others fishing there, likely with camping chairs. Best of luck.

I know this is in the lakes section, but you can fish from the bank at Point No Point and Chinook salmon this time of year. That would be my suggestion.

like David said, a little further but Leland is a great bet for fishing if you're interested in lakes around. It's pretty dead for trout right now unless you have a boat or Cutthroat are biting. Not many Rainbows left around the shoreline but it has the best shore access out of the lakes mentioned.
