Evinrude Dealers

Post by surfj9009 » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:59 pm

Who's the best dealer in easter WA/north Idaho?

I'm pretty close I think to buying a new Etec 60 so I want to look at all options.

Only ones I know of are Spokane Valley Marine, Northwest Speed and Marine, and Elephant Boys.

If you are willing to travel to Ellensburg, give Inland Boats and Motors a call. They were one of the first to carry and sell E-Tec motors and I ended up buying a new package from them and live on the wet (west) side.

I can't give you any advice on who's the best Evinrude dealer in Spokane, but were it me, I'd choose the one with the best service record most conveniently located to you. Elephant Boys seems to sell a lot, but that doesn't mean they have the best service/support. I don't have any personal experience with their service center so can't say one way or the other.

The one time I visited SVM I was totally unimpressed with their crew, and I was only looking for a battery tray. Glad I wasn't looking for something more important. [rolleyes]

Know nothing about NW Speed and Marine, nor have I heard anything about them.

G-Man is giving a good personal recommendation (always the best kind), but my concern would be how far away your authorized service center would be, E-burg is 172 miles away from Spokane. That's a long drive for any service/warranty work.

I've had a very positive service experience (warranty work) from Seay's Lake City Marine. For anything other than routine service, that's where I take my motors.

Thanks for the input so far guys. Ellensberg is a bit further than I'm looking to travel. Tri-Cities and Boise are options though, since I spend a fair bit of time in each area.
I do know that elephant boys is the only one near here that has a a certified master tech, and two other techs in staff full time.
They are also the only one listed on evinrudes website as a platinum dealer or whatever they call it. I've been in there a lot the last few months and they have done me a solid favor at one point, so I'm kinda leaning towards them already. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any other options, such as Seay's. (never heard of them, must be in CDA?)

I haven't had to have any service performed on my motor other than the every 300 hour stuff. Most of the service I can do myself, like lower unit fluid and plugs, which need to be indexed by the way. However interfacing with the motor is still better left to the dealer/licensed service techs as there is some proprietary software and interface protocols necessary to do the job. You can purchase the stuff off of ebay, but for as little as you are going to use it, I wouldn't bother. Hooking up the motor to the PC and updating the software seems to be too much for some of the old timers, my local shop had their etec certification pulled a few years back and are no longer a licensed dealer for them as well. Talk with the guys in the shop and you'll get a feel for what they can and can't do. Most will be happy to show off the "toys" they use to service the Evinrudes if they don't or won't go some place else. The other thing that you 'll want to look at is the job they do at hanging the motor, installing the controls and selecting the right prop for your boating application. For certain I can say that the guys at Inland Boats did a solid job installation job and selecting the perfect size and pitch prop for my boat.

Seay's is a service only shop just north and east of Francis, does not sell motors or boats. They service all makes, and all I know is he did a nice job on my Merc. He is the only certified Merc Master outboard tech in Spokane and I was surprised to learn that when trying to locate a shop to perform warranty work on my motor. Not that any of that matters in your case, but I would recommend them to anyone, they were that good. [thumbup]
