Shimano Curado 200E7 Baitcasting reel, $139 @ Ebay, looks good to me!

Post by MarkFromSea » Wed Feb 16, 2011 3:00 pm

Since this is the year of green and gold, Packers/Superbowl, I've been looking at this reel! LOL But seriously, looking for an all around reel for trout(still and trolling, bank and boat), pan fish and bank fishing rivers for salmon. Is this the one? I've used spinning reels for the above fishing for years and I've been "reel" happy with them. I'm just looking to change some things up a bit and learn something new. About as close as I've come to using a baitcaster is fishing for salmon from a boat, trolling and mooching. I'm intrigued about the design of the Curado 200E7. Any thoughts on this reel and others in it's price range? Thanks!

I have this reel, just bought it maybe 6 months ago. I like it very much. It's smooth. I think i got it retailed at 180.00
So your 130.00 looks good.

if you're patient you can get a better deal off ebay. i see curado's sell for less than 100 bucks a few times a week.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except i still get to kill something.

Ebay is a gr8 thing. I get many deals off there. Ive gotten a few loomis rods and a lami cert pro for under 100 off ebay. 4 pfluegs for 70 for all of em. Not each. I find what I want then I wait for the good deal to come around. Wait till the last 20-10 sec and put your max bid in. Sometimes its good sometimes its not. But dont bid on it till the last seconds. That drives price up too fast and people will know there is demand for that item. Bid once bid the max youd spend and only in the final seconds. The deals will be yours.

There's a few sellers/retailers in the $140 range, all brand new never been used, these are buy it now prices, I didn't even see one on an actual auction. Suggested retail is $179... I've seen some trying to sell them at $200 LOL. Thanks for the info guys, it's all good info. Looks like it's time for me to open an acct at ebay... LOL
I guess what I'm seeing is: For $140, this is the best baitcaster in this price range! I'll watch ebay for a few days in case one drops a price....

In my opinion, best bait caster ever.Great for steelhead and its salt water rated (i use it for sea bass). I own 3. Johns in everett has them for 159$ and a coupon online for 10% off Shimano products. I like keeping my bucks around home and knowing that Im getting a new in box reel and a shop that will honor a warranty if ever i have a problem. IMHO Ebay has its uses but its nice for me to put the gear in my hands first.

I like John's Sporting Goods in everett, I still use some of his old books to salmon fish with in the Sound and he used an email of mine in his newsletter last fall. Using his reccomended info, I had my BEST salmon day ever 10 miles off of the coast, solo, no witnesses, the fish were yankin my gear out of my hand constantly before I was able to clip to the downrigger........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, I wish someone else was there, it was catch and release like nothing I had ever even heard of.....

I wore out my first book of Johns and had to get the new and imroved one. The information in his book has helped me to catch more fish than any other resource i've ever come accross. I try to shop at his store as much as possible. If he does not have something your looking for he usually will order it. I also like the fact, if downriggers or reels need fixed, they are fixed in the back room, not shipped somewhere (cuts the cost down). And, He will make custom length downrigger clips ( I have never understood a stock 2 foot clip on a boom that is 5 foot)..

Right On! Thanks for all of the GREAT feedback! A 200e7 will be in my palm fairly soon...... Now, I saw this beautiful rod I can't get out of my head, St Croix,,,,,,,,,,,,, ouch LOL on the price though, nearly $400...... pretty enough to mount on the wall, blue green opaque, I don't have that kinda money lying around though! LOL "I like dreamin!" I'll use a couple ugly sticks the "ole lady" has gathering dust to break in the reel, one's 6' medium, one's 6.5' med. Most of the rods I have are ultra lights or down rigger.

I was totally suprised by the new berkley IM8 series rod. Check it out. At 70$ its worth a look. WAY better than its predessesor models. I bought one when I got my last curado and like it better than my GL2. At 70$ they are perfect for tossing around the bank or boat and you loose nothin in strength or feel.

I'll check out the IM8s! Thanks

The 201E7, $142 (slightly less for 200E7) - shipping included, new, is the best price I can find also. I'm changin my order to a lefty, since I'm right handed and use my left hand to reel in my spinning reel........ I should use my left to reelin a baitcaster as well! I didn't know......... LOL

I just found Quantum Accurist AC501PT for 1/3rd of retail,,,,,, $35 new, ship included! Of course ya gotta buy 10!

AND, Yes! You got a killer deal!
