Jameson Lake Resort Pics. Anyone?

Post by Dave » Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:58 am

Hi all,

Just curious to know if anyone has any pics of either of the two camp resorts at Jameson Lake? Specifically, pics of the actual camp sites at either campground. I am thinking about a trip in October and wanted to see what the campgrounds looked like. I've fished Jameson many many times as a kid growing up and a few times as a young adult but I've never paid any attention to the camp grounds. Now that I'm a little older and have a nice travel trailer, I'd like to fish and camp there and if possible enjoy the electric hook up at either of these two camp locations instead of parking the trailer in the gravel lot. I'd just like to see what the sites look like. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey Dave,
Here's a link to Jack's resort on Jameson Lake: http://jamesonlake.com/
It has a few photos in their photo gallery here: http://jamesonlake.com/photogallery.html

The other resort is the Jameson Lake Resort on the North end and their phone number is 509-683-1929 although the number won't do you alot of good because they are closed until Oct. 1, 2010

Thanks Big D,

I didn't know you lived so close to Jameson. I grew up fishing Jameson and have a ton of great fishing memories. I haven't fished there in years and from the reports I read each year it seems like the quality of fishing just isn't the same as in years past. Is this true or is it still a great fishery offering abundant carry over trout? I've researched Jack's resort many times over the years hoping to find some actual pics of the campground at either of the two resorts but have never been successful and until now, I've never been able to locate a completed web site for them which is why I posted this request. In fact, I've actually posted this same request once before (quite some time ago) and was unable to find anyone who had pics of the actual campground. So thanks for the links.

Hey Dave,
Glad I could help.
Jameson has been having some big time issues with low runoff, phosphorous in the lake and runoff from local cattle operations causing severe algae blooms in the last few years that have killed off most if not all the fish. In 2005 they had a very large fish kill. Since I’ve moved to Waterville I’ve been paying closer attention to anything that speaks of Jameson. This year the game department waited until late April to plant because of the water conditions. They were worried about to O2 levels and weather the lake could even support the new plants. They ended up planting 18,000 8- to 11-inch rainbows just before opening day. Remember that Jameson has a split season. I think it opens up again 1 Oct to 31 Oct (Double check your regs) I plan on running out there in the next few days to see how things are looking. I'll take my camera and get back to you.

Here ya go Dave,
Here's a couple photos of Jack's resort camp ground. They are shut down till Oct 1 when the fishing starts back up.
I took the photos standing at the camp ground gate.

Big D,

Those pics are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much. I see the actual sites are basically right on top of each other which is a little disappointing but I understand how that goes. It's a bummer to hear that there was a die off and that the lake may not even be able to support a new plant. Jameson use to be such an amazing lake. We use to catch 20+ inchers all the time there and although I believe that they have always planted Jameson I know it use to have a great natural food base there which resulted in big fish year after year. Now Jameson sounds like the average planted lake you would find on the west side. Bummer! I think Jameson has always had the split season and I believe you are correct about the October 1st opener. Do you know if the camp ground at the other end of the lake has hook ups and if they are also basically a grass parking lot for trailers? Just curious. Thanks again Big D, your help is very much appreciated. Take care.

Don’t discount Jameson quite yet. My buddies and I head over there every May for our annual fishing trip. The last two years, at least 2 out of the 5 of us have caught 18+ inch hold overs.

We too stay at Jack’s Resort…Actually in that cabin just to the right of that green garage. It’s absolutely great. The ladies that run the campground/store/restaurant are awesome and we always enjoy seeing them.

Dave,
I haven't been to that resort yet. If I get a chance to run up there this weekend I'll grab a couple of pictures and post them up for you.

Hey Dave,
I made a run up to Jameson Lake Resort this morning to check on conditions. I talked to a couple of different folks that stated that the fishing was good with quick limits of 10" to 12" rainbows. The nice folks at the office told me that the game department will be stocking some larger broodstock early next week. I'll wait and see if that happens.
Here's the pictures.

The fishing was good back in June- right from those picnic tables. Keep your eye out for rattlesnakes if you get out of your boat. The food is really good at the diner and there's tackle and bait if you need it.

Big D,

Thanks my friend. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide these pictures. Now I know exactly what to expect should I take the trip. I'm a bit surprised to see how close the camp spots are to each other. Nothing like hearing your neighbor snoring or worse.... If I do go to Jameson in the future (looks like I won't make it this October as I am taking a camp trip next week for 8 days of vacation) I will let you know so maybe you can join me for a morning or evening bite. Until then, thanks again Big D.
