1st time at basspro today

Post by FishingFool » Sun Jan 11, 2015 6:58 pm

Never been to one before. But I've seen it on all the tv shows and it looks like a bass fishing mecca. Received some gift cards on Christmas and I figure I'll do the 1hr to check it out in person.

Slightly disappointed in the "bass" selection. They do seem to have a decent wide species selection. But not a basspro imo.

Checked out the boats and they look nice. They do have excellent customer service though. Lots of them walking around and very friendly. Much smaller than both Cabelas.

Didn't check out the bowling area.

Didn't spend much, only $25.

Yeah, the prices/selection are not impressive. Too bad. I'll still go to Limit Out & Sportco for my bass fishing needs.

I was out there last night, first time. I agree, the bass section was not as impressive as some bass pro shops I've been to in the south. I did think overall a very nice fishing department. They have much of what I would expect for Pacific NW anglers. Much better than Cabelas.

I've not been to either. I've heard that Cabela's isn't worth going to for Bass fishing stuff. I've heard Bass Pro Shops is ok, but the prices are still too high.

Wife and I went last night to check out the bowling. Opened at 5 and we got there at 530. By then it was a 3 hour wait. We decided to eat diner at Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill. Food was good, we both had burgers so we can't speak to the rest of the menu. Service was good too. Once we finished we walked through the store and did a little shopping. She got a call that we were up for bowling and it had only been an 1 1/2. We decided not to bowl because it was getting late. (getting old ya know)
It looked super cool and the kids would have dug it. I think we will go on a weekday next time and bring them along.
I personally enjoy the new store. Much better than Cabelas and I feel the prices are not that bad for the quality you are getting. I will still order more stuff online than from a store, but it is nice to get your hands on stuff and check it out before you buy.
I could also sit all day in front of the tank and watch the fish.

So the new store is SOUTH of Tacoma? I thought it was near Fife.

Just means I'll have to take an entirely different route to get there, good thing I looked it up. lol

On the map it seems to be north of the 512 freeway, and on the east side of I5 taking the s74/s72 exit, then south on S. Hosmer st. True?

Between S 80th St and S 76th St

Take highway 18, then south on I-5. I want to say it's on the border of Tacoma and Lakewood. It is on the east side of I-5.

Can't remember what exit I took, but my gps had me exit and headed west getting off i-5. Then it make me do a loop and turned onto a road that ran along the freeway.... Only to turn left, which would have been the next exit and cross over the highway and backtrack a little to get to basspro. You can't miss the store driving along I-5. They built this giant observer.
