Ulterra Trolling Motors???

Post by hewesbob » Mon May 30, 2016 6:20 pm

I am thinking that I need to add a bow mount trolling motor on our Hewes 18' Sportsman. I like the auto deploy and stow feature but is that the only difference between the Ulterra and the Terrova(other than $400 price)? Also I run Garmin electronics so I know I won't get the benefits of couture following and some other features that Hummingbird offers. Just wondering what you guys and gals think about the difference between the to of them. Thanks

I'll be following as I was looking into the same thing. I can't see a difference other then what you already pointed out. I almost pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago but decided to hold off and get all mounting, wiring and an extra battery in place 1st.

I like the features on the one that will deploy and run off of the remote. The price (and me being retired) keeps me from buying it.

I had one of these. Got rid of it after I remote stowed it one time and it jammed vertically stowed instead of properly in the cradle. Had to drive home from Hanford reach with it wedged in a stowed position properly. No way to fix it without it going to the local Minn Kota repair shop. Of course the factory warranty covered the repair, but it left a sour taste in my mouth. I sold it and moved back to a Terrova 112. I had a Terrova 80 before I got the Ulterra.
The remote stow and deploy is a neat feature. Just not worth the hassle in my opinion.
