My hats off to Idaho Fish and Game for making this happen in a timely manner. I caught the state record for catch and release northern pike on November 3rd. They received my application and photos on November 13th, posted a brief story and photo on the 13th, and they updated the online catch and release records list today, the 15th.
Here are the links to the photo and list.

I'm amazed how giddy I feel seeing this fish listed as the new state record. I can remember looking at state records for most of my adult life, thinking how good it would feel to some day be fortunate enough to break one. I guess I would say it feels as good as I always thought it would!!

Congratulations on a awesome fish. You deserved it! I was amazed at how fast F&G processed and posted Avery's catch and release record in August.

It's cool for Avery to have a record and such a young age. Nice going. I was just looking at some of the other records. The Northern Pike Minnow is 23 3/4" I believe the one I caught earlier in the year would have eclipsed that. Wish I'd have entered it. It would be fun to have two records. Then again, they may not have liked the fact that I released it with a big thump on the head.

Nice job! I know nothing about pike fishing but that fish is huge, tight lines and good fishing!

That’s awesome man. I followed that catch through the newspaper and f&g. What a fish. We have communicated through wa lakes when I had a diff username. Glad to see it all work out for you.

Thanks guys! It's fun to be in the record books. There are lots of people out there trying to break the record every day. Including me.
