Any advice on fishing for Channel Cats?

Post by reigndawgs » Sun Jun 26, 2016 1:19 pm

I've never really fished for Channel Catfish. We are going to be staying on Lake Cocolalla in AUG and one of the only 2 reports posted here says they have them. Any other advice about this lake would be great too. The NW Fishing Reports community never lets met down so I'm counting on you guys!

hmmm, never heard of the lake. Best I can offer is this Palouse catfishing video for techniques:

Just came from potholes this weekend and caught a 26 on channel cat, the best advice is use 10-12lb braid line, just a size 1/0 hook or a treble hook and get big night crawlers, put 1-2 on a hook and you're good to go. Sliding eeg weight 3/8oz to a swivel with a 18" liter. Best catfishing times is sunset to sunrise especially a few days before or after a new moo.

Maybe my all time photo from the depths of this website...
Green lake (Seattle) report, circa: early 2000's ?

Yes, he is long-arming it, but even still... Dang......
