Coming home in the evening from a trip a few weeks ago, I noticed quite a bit of surface activity in the NE and S part of the lake close to the highway. Because it had been rather warm, I had not noticed many fishermen as I passed through the park the previous few weeks. I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised at the activity. I went one evening about a week ago and had the same experience of hooking up 4 or 5 small rainbows with a trolled green bead headed mini leech over a short period before dark. They were very aggressive and I had many strikes and a few LDR's. The size wasn't impressive, but it wasn't boring. I decided to go back a few evening later and my wife and I landed 8 small 'bows. We were just about ready to call it an evening at dusk and we both hooked up larger fish at the same time. She landed a nice 16" bow with a green leech. I had noticed some surface feeding, so I had switched to a dry fly (#16 BWO) and I landed a nice 17" brown. I have returned a few evening since and last night trolling the mini leech got the usual number for small bow's, but hooked up a granddaddy bow. I did not measure him, but he had to go 18-20" based on the size of my net. Point is, it has been great fun the past few weeks and not much pressure due to few fishing. Be safe.
