This is intended for Pat H who wrote about his fishing experience at Banks lake on the weekend of the 7-8 Oct. I was there for that WSBF, Scholarship bass tournament. I apologize for the bass boats you say buzzed you at high speeds. Most bass fisherman have good manners but there are a few (very few) who unfortunately do not. For them I say I am sorry! However Pat, take the time to talk to these guys who are bass fisherman and you will learn what a good bunch of guys and gals that we are. We also catch walleye when bass fishing so we are inclined to give you the where we caught them.
Anyway, the smallmouth fishing is good at Banks. It is picking up but when the wind blows, watch out! I was there on Saturday and was in 5/6 footers and it made my boat look small, and it is a 21 ft BassCat. You must use extreme caution at Banks in the wind. We caught some good Smallies both days this weekend. Plastics are good and don't forget about a spinnerbait. Fish the deeper water and you will find them. Darker colors seem to be working best, as well as Rattle traps that match the bait fish. Do expect some 3 pound fish, and have fun!!!!!
