Well Beaver Lake produced big time. My brother and I fished this lake by boat on Wednesday, then by shore Thursday. Wednesday we only got TWO fish in three hours, yet one was around 3.5 pounds...nice triploid (got this fish with a frog needlefish in a lagoon on the opposite side of the park in the inflatable. The next day we shore-fished and both caught our five fish in around 30 minutes. We used powerbait and worms. We were fishing with nearly 20 others from shore...and just an FYI, people with dogs, please keep them on leashes so those of us that want to do serious fishing can (dogs running into the water and ruining the fishing was not entertaining. I love dogs, put please put them on a leash.) Many of the planters are right next to shore (within 15 feet). A bobber and worm, or powerbait plunk does the trick. Fish all average 8-12 inches with some lunkers mixed in (2-4 pounds). All around, an amazing day out on the lake and that may be it for this year. Other area lakes higher up will start producing soon, so I think we'll head up there. Everyone else was smacking the trout too, so it was a blast. Reports from other lakes show an amazing opening season. Oh, the joys of fishing Beaver Lake. Air temp around 66.5 and water temp was around 46.6. Many boat anglers today, most which were fly fishermen. Awesome day to take the day off. Look for more of our reports as we cruise the local areas lakes. Tight lines all.
