My first time at Beaver Lake this year. Had a buddy with me and the two of us used our canoe to go back and forth from the boat launch to mid-lake. Early am was rather quiet with only a nibble or two with powerbait on the bottom; nothing on lures. Then the clouds lifted (a little) and it warmed up enough to get the bugs working. The fish soon followed and we dialed in the right color lures: orange/black spinners (panther martin or rooster tail). Between the two of us, we landed 10 fish, and lost at least twice as many. Most of the fish lost were due to the fact we crimped our barbs. Sure you'll lose more than you catch, but it teaches you how to play a fish with skill and finesse. Plus it's easier on the fish when you release them; give it a try!
Tonight I had a very tasty trout dinner!
Blessings on you all!
