I really enjoy this lake, but it can be VERY hit and miss this time of year for bass, but what lake can't??
Took my best friend with me, and we hit our first bass about 20 minutes out...a 4.6lb'er. Not too much farther and bass number two came along, this one was a male about 3.2lbs. Ten minutes after that my buddy smacked his first bass which was also the biggest of the day at 5lbs even!! There was about an hour lull before we had a series where we caught three more in about ten casts, all in the 3.5lb range. All the bass were in about 5 feet of water, and the surface temp was 47.5 degrees all day.
We used various colors and sizes of jigs to produce our fish, but at times on this lake a Texas-rigged black power worm can be deadly too!!
It was dang cold out, and when the wind hit about 15mph, we both decided we were satisfied with the results, and decided to bail......felt like February river fishing...brrr!!
I think this lake will be a lot better in about a month, the lily pads are just starting to poke through the bottom, and I have always preferred to fish here when the get about a foot to a foot and a half high....
