Went to Dry Falls Lake for the first time today with my four legged friend - Sage. Fished from about 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Beautiful morning, cool but sunny with the slightest of winds.

I soon found out this is not a good lake to fish from shore. 95 percent (or more) is surrounded by thick cattails, making shore fishing impossible in most places. Most anglers fish this lake from float tubes or pontoon boats (no motors or electric motors allowed here).

Still, I managed to hook three acrobatic rainbow trout. The first two spit out the spoon I was using as soon as they jumped. I then changed over to a Mack's Promise Keeper Spinner and caught the last one, a chunky 14 incher. I also managed to catch a nice 15 inch brown trout too. Not bad for being shore bound.

This is a beautiful lake and you are surrounded by some serious geological history (check out the visitor's center at the top of the lake on your way home). The only downside to the day was all the ticks that found their way onto my dog and yours truly. We were fortunate to get them off of us before they started feasting on us.
