I don't know if its people just not knowing how to fish or I'm just lucky. Went out early morning on 4/15/07. Brought along my little brother who's 13. We started on the north side of the lake just short of the first dock about 35 feet from the shore. We were casting into the shore using a three foot leader a small hook and a piece of worm. We were there about an hour with a couple of small stockers but nothing of any size. I decide to lengthen my leader to about 9 feet a bigger hook and worm and casted as far out to the middle of the lake as i could. It was within 2 minutes when my bobber instantly disappeared. I reeled up my slack and bam, IT WAS ON. Ive never expected it at all. I fought the most lively trout i have ever seen. It jumped it twisted it was just going crazy. My light weight rod was being worked. It took a little while BUT I WON!. I got it in the boat. A 19 inch 4 and a half pound rainbow. What a shock. This size fish from my local lake. I wish i had a camera! The rest of the day kept going good as well. A few 10 -14 inchers to finish out the day. ALL WITH A BOBBER AND WORM!
