Tried out the long poles again with my son Matt. We both caught one trout each again taking about an hour and a half. The rod tips are extremely sensitive. Matt had several nibbles on his half a crawler that showed no damage at all to the worm. I used a crawler/nitro bait combination and less line than Matt. The water is about 11 feet deep off the end of the Camas Heritage Park dock. My pole is 3.65 meters long while Matt's is 5.6 meters. We will continue to play with our methods. One thing seems to be necessary and that is to keep the line no longer than the pole. Fighting and bringing in the fish goes a lot better when this is the case. Although it is easy to keep a low level of steady pressure on the fish with these poles, the fish needs to be quite played out before attempting to net them as the rods are extremely limber as noted above.

Water temp 61+ degrees. Depth 10.9". Fish finder showed hits mostly about 4' or so down.

Max and his friend showed up before we left and were a lot of fun to talk with. Great young people!
