Fished Lake Whatcom on April 30th (never mind the photo date stamp). Fishing was slow. I expected the smallies to be in a pre-spawn or spawn pattern. They seemed to have already spawned and left the nests. The water temp avg 52 degrees. I caught this one on a big massive flat with large scattered rocks in about 6 feet of water. He hit a Fat Free Shad crankbait in the morning. I also caught a 15 inch skinny cutthroat on the Fat Free Shad. Both were the big fishes of the day. Whatcom is a real good smallmouth lake when they are biting. Tight lines.
