You must retain or count as part of your limit ANY legal sized fish brought to hand. You are very fortunate that the local game enforcement wasn't there that day or you would have been fined heavily and possibly lost your rights to fish for two years. Need say I will be informing him when I see him this week and forward your washingtonlakes.com posting name so he can contact the web site to glean your email address to investigate.

5/19/2007 9:25:00 PMSlow down and take a deep breath rubioloco. We don't hand out any kind of information to anyone, WDFW included, without a warrant. He could just need a helping hand with the regulations. The "standard" rules for Crappie are "No min. size. No daily limit".
BTW, a posting on a message board like this is just hearsay. Jake still has his right to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, which this isn't.

Other Game Fish Last Sat. in Apr.-Oct. 31 Statewide min. size/daily limit.
This may not be a Court of Law, but if Jake would keep a copy of the Regs with his gear or at least read it before going to the Lake of his choice - he WILL realize what he was doing was ILLEGAL - although there may be STANDARD rules - those rules apply to lakes where there is no SPECIFIC notations for that specific lake. In this case there ARE specific rules and for crappie- the standard rule does NOT APPLY to this lake for crappie.
Muskyhunter & rubioloco are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in thier voicing of illegalities of Jakes fishing - but Aaron is correct in the posting being "hearsay" - and it can never be proven in a court of law - however - Jake needs to be aware that while fishing, there are other anglers out there that WILL make a call to the Game Warden when they see illegal practices being done. Jake NEEDS TO READ THE REG'S and fish accordingly - or he could pay the price...losing rights to fish for two years would really be painful to a true angler.

My statement was mainly focused on his threat of giving out his username to the WDFW... which is a threat that will go nowhere. The WDFW will not be able to get any information from us since it would violate our Privacy Policy. Bottom line here is that we, WL.com, have to stay impartial. He might have broken the rules but he still has a right to be a part of our community here and not feel threatened.

9/28/2007 3:08:00 PMOk well this is Jake the one who posted this and you all must not understand the story completely. Me and my friend did catch 110 crappie and we did put them all into a few buckets and we did dump them on the dock to count them , but most of them were still very alive when we put them back. There are always a few that die, like when they swallow the hook. So out of 110 fish only about 5 died and we gave those to people who were fishing on the dock. So we did not do anything bad. So you all need to chill out and worry about yourselves. And I know you are going to say " well we are worried about the fish" It ain't gonna hurt the population at all so get over it.
