Great sunny day started seeing roadside snow just past the ice caves west of Trout Lake. Road impassable to anything without high clearance 4x4. Hiked in as lake was just over the next hill, turned out to be 2.5 miles. Lake was blown out. highest water I have seen in 20 years. Has to be 10 feet deeper then was last year at same time. Main road still has large log debree from when it was even higher. Road to Carson blocked by snow.
Fishing was great.. catching sucked. Eagles playing at the upper end of the lake. Caught and released a few dollies that came after a woolly bugger. There were some other fishermen there earlier that also did nada.. but a Thursday fishing is still better then work..

Oregon-Cycle Guy,

I notice you've recently been up to Goose Lake and the conditions were not ideal. My friends and I are planning a camping trip there for Memorial Weekend, however we will change locations if you think it to be a bad idea, The weather looks great for the weekend but we would like to avoid ground snow and poor conditions if possible. Would you recommend Goose as a spot for camping? We will have a few kids with us. Or find another location, and if so are there any locations that you would recommend with fishing and enough space for up to 20 people. Thanks a million.
