I went camping at Silver Lake for the weekend. On the first day, Friday, I got there late, around 7pm and got to fish for a little over an hour. I got a couple bites but didn't hook any. The fish were surfacing all around the lake. It was a nice warm night, but I didnt' have any luck. The next morning I got on my float tube and started fishing around 6am. I used a mini crappie jig with a power worm as a tail. It was nice and calm but not that many fish were sufacing like last evening. I fished for about 4 hours and only caught 1. I missed two but didn't have any other luck. From time to time I switched to different colors and still no luck. Usaully the trout would kill the jig. Thats what I used when I fished in California. I even tried panther martin, castmaster, superduper and roaster tail and no luck with any of them. Later that day I fished from shore with the kids using powerbait and caught 4 in a few hours before nightfall. Tried again on Sunday for a couple of hours and only caught 1. There were other people fishing around us from shore and they too didn't have much luck. Even the boaters weren't having much luck. Overall I had fun fishing and enjoyed the sunny warm weekend.

I am from SO. Cal and I used that same rig all the time. I think the best color combo is a white jig with either orange or chartreuse power worm. I have done really well with the jig at Erie and McMurray. Good report.
