The lake was rehabitated October 10th 2002 (used rotenone to kill off all of the fish). The trout fishing was good but the fish were small. The largest I caught was about 1/2 pound. There are supposed to be 450 hatchery hold-overs planted this year as well...no word on triploids yet. Last year, the trout fishing was poor, but the bluegill and bass were great. In fact, the bass averaged around 3 lbs for the largemouth and about 2 lbs for the smallmouth.
Summary, if you want larger fish, it will be sometime before Alta Lake will recover, but if you are just wanting to reel in fish, it should be just fine. Good Luck!
