I took my 7 year old daughter to Tapps yesterday after hearing all the good things about this lake. We were going after smallmouth primarily but I did bring along all my musky gear. We go there at around 9 am and immediately started working all around Tapps island throwing everything we had from small spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits, even topwater. The ONLY thing we didn't try was plastics. Not ever having fished the lake before, I wanted to cover as much area as possible trying to locate fish. In hindsight that was a big mistake because it seems the smallmouth were hitting the only thing we didn't try. As far as the tigers, same story. I threw bright and dark bucktails, jerks, and cranks. We left around 4 pm. It would have been nice for my daughter to see a tiger in real life but it just wasn't our day I guess. I'm not sure how well the fishing will get as the season progresses but I would really like to try this lake again.
