First time to Cassidy this year. Thought I'd have the place to myself, but when I arrived about 7:30 PM there were a number of other flyfishermen already on the water in pontoon boats and tubes. Everyone seemed to be concentrated between the launch and the resort, so I headed south. The weather was warm, the water flat. Only saw a couple of rises as I worked a small black/white nymph on a sink-tip line in search of some crappie. Lost a couple before I finally brought the first of a typical Cassidy 6" fish to hand. As it started to get darker, the fish finally decided to bit in ernest, but nothing like the hot surface action I had last August. Finally the fish shut off about 9:30, and I headed home. Nice to see some others enjoying the surface action on this close-in lake, too bad the fish weren't a better grade. I don't know if the 9" minimum size limit is having much effect, I suppose only time will tell. Maybe when the weather cools off a bit the surface action will improve a bit.
