Took my kids to Shadow on Friday, 7-6. On the water by 0830 and off by 11:30. Had some fun dodging all the hooks, bobbers and spinner baits from my 7 year old daughter's pole, but all was good. Fishing was rather slow, breeze was calm most of the time, although we did get a good blast of wind from the north that blew us around. (I forgot my anchor!) Water temp showed 76 degrees in the lake and 78 in the canal. Caught four smallies during that time period; all from under the docks on the east side of the lake in the shadows. All in all a pretty good day. Used only spinner baits with yellow, or yellow/white plastic body. Tried bobber fishing with crawlers, power bait and a combination of all but had zero luck. Tried black/yellow Rooster Tails, and Panther Martins, zero luck. The catch ranged from 9" to 11", typical weight for these sized fish. There was only one other boat on the lake, but only for short period of time.
