Got on the water about 10:30. We were going after Mackinaw. Went out to "Mack Alley" and trolled one pass with some BIG plugs. The wind picked up and it got a bit unpleasant so we headed to the other side. Switched to Ford fenders and wedding rings. Marked fish from 100 to 20 feet and tried them all, no luck. Went to the end of the lake, got out of the wind and enjoyed the sun till evening bite. Went to the west wall and trolled in 100 ft at about 90 ft. Hooked up on one big one ripped the line out of the downrigger and started to strip line. Thought I'd snagged a stump but stumps don't fight. Worked him to the top and got him next to the boat shook his head and snapped the 18# test leader. Next time 25 or 30. My wife was getting a bit anxious again as the wind was picking up so we headed across to the launch. About half way across the bouncing popped the line. thought oh well I'll just drag it on the surface till I get to the other side. About five minutes out of the clip and I picked up a nice little 2 1/2 # Bow. It started to get very snotty so we headed in. No skunk! good day!
