Got up early and headed out to Martha Lake. Was on the water by 6:15. It was overcast, slight breeze from the east. It started sprinkling probably around 8:30. The water was warm (much warmer than the rain, in fact, for a while it got cold enough that mist was forming on the top of the lake). Trolled first with a flatfish. It was perch color, didn't expect any bites, didn't disappoint me. I switch to a Crocodile spoon, nothing. Switch to a wedding ring with a worm, nothing. Switched to bottom fishing with powerbait (let the wind just drift me across the lake), nothing. Then a fish broke the surface not 10 feet next to me. Switched to a roostertail, nothing. Switched to a Meeps, nothing. It wasn't a good day on Martha. It's one of the deepest lakes around, but seemed to be devoid of any fish. I went cause it's the closest to my house and I hadn't been out on my pontoon on that lake yet. I doubt that I'll go there again unless I just want someplace close to waste some time.
