Hit Eloika this morning from about 8:30 AM-12:00 PM, the weeds weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. Jigged off the bottom with a pinch of worm caught 5 perch and one 8.5" crappie. Wind really started to blow making it difficult to do about anything so I went and took a look at Fan and Horseshoe, no fishing just looking, nice looking lakes, I will definitely try to hit those two before they close for the season.

You'll love Fan lake, but check the regs 1st. I believe it is a no gas lake. Used to be some nice browns in there.

Fan lake did have a beautiful setting, and it would certainly have less pleasure boaters. It sounds like Horseshoe has more variety though, especially more spiny rays, which is what I usually go for, not much of a trout fan myself. When you say "used to be" how long ago was this?
