Fishing solo, I launched my small boat onto Wye Lake about 8:00 AM. No gas motors are allowed on this lake. The winds were calm and lake flat as a mirror as I launched. Started casting a floating Rapala and hooked about a dozen dinks ranging from about 7 inches to about 11inches. Saw about a hundred of that size cruising the shoreline in the clear water. On many occasions, 6-10 little guys would follow my Rapala back to the boat but most were very reluctant to strike. Also tried Jigs, Grubs, and crankbaits with no strikes. No other boats on the lake. Fished until about 11:00 when a little breeze came up. This is a nice little lake but over the years I have caught very few big fish. My personal lake record is only an 18 inch, 3 pound, 5 ounce fish that hit a floating Rapala back on May 26, 1995.

ya that lake isnt the best lake for big bass, but at the far west cove on the left side where there are submerged trees. i always see 5lb+ there but can never get them to bite.

That cove with the trees is where I caught my biggest bass, but directly north of the trees, on the north shoreline, while fishing with my son, he nailed one that was just a tad under 5 pounds under an old floating dock. It is a pretty good trout lake. I hooked an 18 inch rainbow that smacked a floating Rapala a couple years ago.
