Fishing solo, I launched my small boat onto Horseshoe lake. I selected Horseshoe on this Saturday because it has a 7 MPH speed limit and it is fairly close to home. It was quite windy so I headed up the right side of the lake where it is shallow and featureless. A lake side home owner was telling his tale of woe about his boat being stolen right in front of his house and I was watching the small bass, bluegill and sunfish swimming around the boat in the shallow clear water.. A school of 4 bass about 12 inches swam by and I cast a jig out and one grabbed it. I landed it and released it while the home owner watched. He said that was the biggest bass he had seen caught in that area. Anyway, as most of you know, fishing from a small boat in the wind is tough. I did catch a couple more decent sized dinks in the 11-12 inch range but that was it. I will try to add a photo of a previous trip to Horseshoe where another home owner took a photo for me. I released the fish immediately after the photo under his dock.

Bob , I'm an old fan from reading your articles in Fishin Hole Magazine. I love fishing the small waters in Western Washington. I just became aware of this site. I noticed the pictures of your old BassTracker, I have the same boat. Still a good fishing platform. I have wondered for years why you have not written a book about the small bass lakes that are so abundant. Is there any why to get the articles you wrote. I really would like to encourage you to put together a book. You might want to know how I know who Bass Tracker is that picture posted is the give away.
