Hello Everyone,

I have been a lurker here for a while. I really enjoy seeing all the photo's of the Muskie's and Small Mouth that everyone is catching out of Tapps. It sure is a different lake that what it was 20 years ago. A real turn for the better when it comes to fishing. But I do have a gripe to make here and I hope that it is not taken as a flame as that is truly not my intention. Last year I had a couple tears in the rear of my boat cover and I never realized how they got there. Had another one ealier this year which is a bummer when you have an 800 dollar boat cover. Yesterday morning I saw what was happening while out on the lake. Please, when casting out around boats that are tied to docks or on boat lifts, if you get your crank bait or what ever you are tossing, up on a boat cover, please do not just yank it off. Those hooks do a number on the boat covers and also the interiors of some nice boats. Just go up to the boat and pick your hook up off the boat rather than trying to jerk it off. Ok, nuff said!
Everyone enjoy the fishing on the lake! Keep it safe and have fun!

Malibu1,

Sounds like good advice to me. We fisherman often complain about the lack of respect from other boaters and personal watercraft. We also need to remember to respect the rights and property of others. The best way to be ambassadors of our sport is to treat every one the way we want to be treated, and to leave a fishing site/lake in the same shape or better than when we arrived. Sorry to hear about the tears in your boat cover.

Sorry to hear about the torn boat cover. I feel your pain.
Your opinion on the "proper way" to retrieve a lure in that situation is greatly appreciated. I've boarded many a dock over the years just to remove my lure from the dock and have never had a home owner say anything to me to the contrary. I feel it's alot better than having their kids get a hook in their bare feet, etc. I'd do the same for a boat cover if I ever find myself in that situation.
Hope that's your last tear.

hmmmm...... sorry to hear that! I've never torn a cover but have snagged many underwater hazards like excess rope from buoys and boats or old rotting cross braces left on deck piling.... ok, nuff said. (smiling)
