We got out to my favorite spot a little before the sun came up. Then we saw what looked to be an unlimited hydroplane coming towards us fast, turns out it was just a bass boat...with a contest banner on the outboard. I didn't know there was going to be a tournament there today. I thought it should be a slow day on the lake with the cloud cover and all the other fishing events going on today (muskie tournament at Mayfield, kiddie rod derby, and the WL.com BBQ get together). Oh well, it didn't hurt our success (despite the tournament angler trying to nose his way into my hole). We caught several nice smallmouths using some old and some new secret plastic and scent combinations. The photos are of my big one, which was 3.5lbs (forgot to measure its length, Doh!), and my friends 2 pounder. We had several other nice sized ones in the 1-2 pound range, and a few little 11 inchers too. And the best part....very few ski boats today.
