We fished for two hours both tonight and last night. No one else was fishing the lake but us on either night. The weather was perfect Saturday but the wind was gusty today. Due to my amazing success at catching bass the last trip, I decided to have another go at it. Sammi was less than enthused about the idea of casting into and around the weed filled edges, but figured that if I could catch 1 she could catch 3. That sounded about right to me so we tied on floating rappella's, one in a perch and one in a shad pattern. I hooked the first fish on my third cast before we were 50 yards out from the launch. Rounding the corner of the launch channel i got another. Sammi landed her first one a minute later after about a dozen casts. We worked out way slowly to the south and had several more strikes and I landed one more.
Sammi had a couple more near hook ups before we came to a small inlet in the weeds. I cast to the left side and immediately hooked another. She cast once into the center and them to the right side as I unhooked my fish. Suddenly the water exploded to the right and I heard line being ripped of her reel. I knew she had something big as it dove for the deeper mass of weeds. She pulled him up and got it heading the towards us and it shot into another big mass of weeds. She pulled him it out again and got it to the top of the water where they fought it out for another minute or two until she steered it into the boat like an old pro. Some people are just born to fish. I fumbled for the net (knowing if I blew it I would be found floating in the lake later) and into the boat came a 16 3/4 inch bass. We don't have a scale so our best guestamate was 3 1/2 to 4 pounds. Biggest one either of us have ever caught. We ended up with 13 bass and a perch before night fell. All but 3 were from 9 to 11 1/2 inches. We kept a few of those for dinner and let the rest go.
Tonight the wind made it nearly impossible to hold the boat in one place. We went to the west side to get out of the wind as much as possible. I hooked a couple more bass and Sammi got 1, but our frustration with fighting the wind was growing quickly. We decided to give it a few more minutes and then go out into middle and look for crappies. I made a cast out towards deeper water and the water exploded up under my hook. Now it was my turn for a big one. I really had to fight him out of the weeds but a few minutes later it was in the boat. This one was 18 1/4 inches and 5-6 lbs. Wow! We took a lot of pictures before we let it go to be caught again someday. We decided to do some bobber fishing with a jig in deeper water and Sammi got 1 more bass to make 5 for the night. We also got a couple pumpkin seeds, a catfish and a grass pickerel who hit my rapella. There are rumors of muskies or pike in Eloika that go back decades. But there are no muskies, just their little cousins. I caught them there 25 years ago and they are still there. It was about 8 inches and a fully grown fish and probably 4-5 years old to be this big. lol They sure do look like a baby tiger musky though. very nice fish! b4ut i would have to say that those fish are not 5-6 lbs and 3 1/2-4 sammi's fish was about 2 lbs and yours was 3-4 lbs based on fish that i have caught with similar lenght and girth

Next pickerel I catch is yours.
I've caught a lot of trout and walleye in the 3-6 lb range but i really don't know much about bass. Never even thought about a girth measurement. Excitement probably added at least a pound. lol We'll have to get a tackle box scale. Would be nice to know what they weigh. Not that it really matters. What matter is that ....DAMN, THEY ARE FUN TO CATCH !!! So fun we went back again tonight for an hour and a half. Landed 11, lost as many more and I hooked into one I think was even bigger than the first two. Fought it for about 1 minute until it spit the hook back at us. Don't know why I didn't try this bass fishing thing years ago cos....DAMN, THEY ARE FUN TO CATCH !!!

yea i would have to agree that bass are one of the most exiting sport fish to catch, the lures are fun to use and the fish hit hard, fight hard, and are damn fun to brag about
