Well boys, Lk Wilderness does it again. Hit my spot up; east side north of the launch. Same old recipe Mikes orange garlic mellows, half, I say half of a night crawler! Small Gomakatsu hooks. Works every time. Caught 4 nice rainbows all 12-15 inches about a pound a piece. These were great fish. The bite is awesome at Wilderness. Fellow Trout bums please get to this lake before it closes. There was a guy floppin around in his tube fly fishing while I was there. He must have caught (and released) about 10 fish! We chatted for a minute, and he seemed kind of offended that I kept my fish. He felt obliged to let me know that the lake only gets stocked once a year.......Dude needs to lighten up, my fish go for a nice meal, and I'm tired of fly fishermen acting all snotty cuz they release their fish. GOOD FOR YOU! I release fish sometimes too.....and sometimes I eat them. It's my tax dollars, and we're not fishing for endangered species either. Come on fly fisherman, I know you probably make over $70K a year, and you drive a Volvo to the lake, and all your gear is L.L. Bean. But don't chastise me about keeping fish..........Ok, I'm off the soap box. Seriously......guys this lake is HOT....I've found a nice groove here. Go check it out, but do yourself a favor, leave the power bait at home, it's garlic mellows/worms/ four feet of leader = fish. Good luck.

I agree!!!!!!!! As long as you are with in the limit and obey the regulations, there's nothing better than a fresh trout dinner. I especially enjoy a meal or two of illegally planted largemouth bass however!

Rob G,

I wasn't trying to be funny. I have lived in Washington all of my life and have been fishing here since age four, 50 years ago. Lake Wilderness and other King County lakes such as Alice, Langlois, Pine, and Rattlesnake, had always been considered trout lakes and would be rotenoned if spiny ray fish were introduced by the bucket biologists. Due to cost and legal hassles from lakeside residents, the WDFW gave in and stopped rehabs at these lakes. I challenge you to provide data to show that largemouth bass, yellow perch, or pumpkinseed sunfish have ever been planted in Lake Wilderness by WDFW. Don't waste your time, you won't be able to. I was merely defending your right to enjoy a legally caught meal of trout without having to get the approval of some snob! But your report has me thinking I should get out to Lake Wilderness before the 31st!

yo Bruce, I know you were backing me up. I just didn't know that the spiny rays were illegally planted...and what does rotenoned mean? Next time you're on the lake and you see a brotha in a livingston say hey! that's me. Later

Good job keeping some nice trout. Nothing wrong with bass either. Just because they were illegally planted in most of the WA lakes doesn't make them bad fish. Bass are the most popular sport fish that swims and theres no denying that.
