Went to Rufus Woods 1-11/12.
Arrived at Rufus around 11. Fished just below the net pens on the reservation.
There was a good bite going on when we arrived, lots of fish being caught and lots of fish on the stringers.
Nothing big mostly 4-5#s.
Everyone was plunking dough baits, didn't seem to matter what brand or color.
My brother and I used Gulp eggs and marshmellows with stink sauce ( procure trophy trout) we have found this combo usually outfishes the rest of the bankies 2 to 1.
Limited in 2 hours. Biggest fish was 7# 7oz.
Weather- overcast and about 32 degrees. Not much flow they weren't releasing much water from the dam.
Sat. Crack O Dawn, already 8 guys fishing when we arrived with some fish on the stringers.
My brother says " I'm going to try the black jig as it's already tied up". First cast and Fish On!!
I quickly tie on a black jig and first cast Fish On!!
Well for the next 2 hours we caught and released a lot of fish any where from 11" to the average 4-5#s.
I finally hooked into a 8# 8oz pig.
Just awesome fishing.
Fish in the brine and headed for the smoker Tuesday. Except the piece I had for breakfast this morning.
The guy next to me caught a 10# + pig on a 1/4oz black jig.
We finally kept enough fish to fill our limit and head home.
Weather Sat.- overcast with snow flurries, 32 degrees.
Saturday was the best day of fishing Rufus I have had so far. First time using home tied black jigs. Need to tie up some more for the end of Feb trip.
