HELP! I fished sammamish again with no luck .I don't know what I'm doing wrong . Water temp is in the low forty's fish are in 40 to 50 feet of water. finding fish on the various rock piles that i know of . Fish all over my fish finder but i cannot get a bite to save my life . Ive tried all the things people in my club say to use . Hula grub in the 176 color 3/4 ounce football head drag it, pop it , let it sit ,. all of that stuff, But still cant get a bite to save my life. I love to fish that lake during the regular season and I'm very successful but this winter time stuff is making me very frustrated. I know the tournament guys don't give out secrets very often all i want is help. PLEASE.

I agree, I fished all day Sunday with no luck as well same pattern even tried fishing shallow in hopes of finding a lost Largemouth. OH YEAH WINTER FISHING IS TOUGH, BUT IT IS MORE REWARDING IN THE SOUTHERN STATES! I can not figure out a consistant winter pattern anyway GOOD LUCK next time

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I think in the winter when the water is so cold the fish are not feeding much therefore the chance to catch is less. When the water warms up, they will become more active, and the bite will bet better. I let the cold weather pass and start fishing the lakes in late March. That's not to say I don't have the bug. I'm chomping at the bit to go. I just don't like freezing on the water this time of year for little chance at catching a fish. Hang in there..

When I fish for winter bass (ok, large mouth down in Georgia, but winter there can be colder than here), I had to go extra slow. I would use a senko, cast it 2 feet beyond the very best looking structure, and move it about 6 inches every 2 minutes! Stay still in between, and move only every 2 minutes... of course this makes about half hour for a single cast, and that's why you only cast on the very best spot. Find the very best looking structure (better, use an underwater camera to find a structure with fish that seems to be in ambush position) and try it. The bite is subtle, like the line got just a little extra slack... some times all you notice is some weight the next time you try to move six inches... (and that's why I use a senko, once fish put it on the mouth it won't let go, and you have plenty of time to set the hook) any one of these set the hook.
