With the Spiny ray show off to a slow start in many of the large waters I fish. I decided to do a little trolling for 'bows or koks, on Banks lake. I have always found Banks to be a clean and scenic lake. So, no matter how successful I am I always find a sense of serenity at Banks lake.
I fished mid lake using Sep's flashers and K-flies, trolling around 1.4 mph. While the rate of catch wasn't out standing we did manage a double on one occasion. Attempts locating clusters of smallies were in vain. only one here or there were managed, so the trout received the most effort. The weather was pretty nasty from time to time, with strong winds and rain the course. Later a quick sweep of Billy Clapp yielded only one smallie. While in route to Billy Clapp we passed several lakes in the Sun Lakes area. I'm not sure if there were more fish or fishers. Nearly every type of craft could be seen afloat and motorhomes lined the shores. I'm not too sure if I could have found any serenity in that setting. Oh well to each their own.
Good luck out there.
